In 1895 Gordon Chetwynd sold what was then known as Rutland Cottage, to the 5th Earl of Cadogan. The Earl numbered amongst his closest
friends Edward, Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII. It was never, as sometimes is said, the residence of the Prince of Wales,
he merely often visited his friend the Earl of Cadogan.
