The RAILWAY iNN, in New Town, on what was then known as Railway Street is recorded as such in the census of 1861 and 1871. All other
records show it as The Carpenters Arms. Firstly on Station Street, the street became Lower Station Road, and later still, All Saints Road.
There seems to be noreason for this confusion, albeit the Inn was the closest to the first railway station.
