Opened on 30th March 1985 at 2 to 12, All Saints Road, on the site of the Co-op Furniture near All Saints Church, and named the "Willie Thorne Snooker Centre".
It was a members club (membership £15 p.a.)with the usual restrictions on the sale of alcohol to non members. September 1991 the club was closed and rumoured to be on the market. Bought by Keith Levitt of St.Neots and Keith Pawley of Newmarket and re-opened as the Newmarket Snooker Centre just in time for Christmas 1992.
The club, which owned the building but had leased part as a wholesale vegetable concern, announced in August 1995 that they wanted to
expand the Club by adding a six lane, ten pin, Bowling Alley when that lease expired. This was agreed by Forest Heath planners. The
Bowling Alley opened in October 1996.
